It is widely reported, e.g., BBC. Breitbart noted:
In a February 3 opinion piece in Newsweek, Gabbard listed her four day-one priorities:
First, to assess the global threat environment and identify where gaps in our intelligence exist, integrating intelligence elements, increasing information-sharing, and ensuring unbiased, apolitical, objective collection and analysis is provided to support President Trump and policymakers’ decision-making.
Second, I will deliver on President Trump’s commitment to the American people to end the politicization of the IC and provide focus to the IC’s essential mission, which is securing our nation.
Third, I will rebuild trust in the intelligence community through transparency and accountability.
Finally, I will assess and address efficiency, redundancy, and effectiveness across ODNI.
It appears Trump trusts her that his intelligence briefings will be as clear and objective as she can assure they are, and that he trusts her judgment in being in regular consultation with him about facts and policies.
The crabgrass view is she will be alert to any bullshitting or rogue dealings of subordinates, and as such she will get better intelligence data and judgment to Trump than might some careerist CIA alternative person. She seems to not be an easy person to fool, or to cajole into ideas and positions her instincts might warn her to doubt of distrust. Some of the spooks might not like someone heading intelligence who won't let them pull the wool over her eyes.
Crabgrass likes that appointment and believes her confirmation was in the nation's best interests.
UPDATE: If Gabbard does some head chopping it is expected to not be excessive, nor unjustified, and to the extent she does some, the intelligence community will be improved by her choices. She is not the partisan hack Pam Bondi seems to be.
