No Excuses
The arguments against passing the Women’s Health Protection Act are pathetic.
Biden promised it, and 48 Senate Democrats are sponsors of the legislation. Avoiding this confrontation in order to appease two Democratic holdouts — Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania — is unacceptable.
Likewise, citing arcane filibuster rules as reason for Democrats to not even have this fight is equally ridiculous.
At a time when Republican legislators and judges are laying waste to the rules protecting women’s health, a change in Senate rules is the absolute least that can be done. Citing the filibuster as some sort of undebatable law of nature or immovable object is as absurd and insulting as pretending an unelected, fireable parliamentary adviser is the reason America can’t get a $15 minimum wage. You have to be either a #TeamBlue zombie, a pundit on the take, or a gullible moron to accept such obvious bullshit.
That, saying delay is inexplicable, is one step removed from saying a cynical money-raising ploy is at play. Once the Blumenthal bill is passed, game over.
So, whose goose is better fed by delay?
Beyond that, the fifteen buck minimum wage mention in that final paragraph has been depreciated in value with all the pump priming spending flooding the money supply.
Now the theme: $22 in 2022, Make it a campaign slogan. Things can always settle for less, say fifteen bucks an hour.

SpaceX’s first private flight will be led by a 38-year-old entrepreneur who’s bankrolling the entire trip. He’s taking two sweepstakes winners with him on the three-day, round-the-world trip, along with a health care worker who survived childhood cancer.
They’ll ride alone in a fully automated Dragon capsule, the same kind that SpaceX uses to send astronauts to and from the International Space Station for NASA. But the chartered flight won’t be going there.
Set to launch Wednesday night from Kennedy Space Center, the two men and two women will soar 100 miles (160 kilometers) higher than the space station, aiming for an altitude of 357 miles (575 kilometers), just above the current position of the Hubble Space Telescope.
By contrast, Virgin Galactic’s Richard Branson and Blue Origin’s Jeff Bezos briefly skimmed space during their short rides in July — Branson reached 53 miles (86 kilometers) while Bezos hit 66 miles up (106 kilometers).
The thought here is that Musk should expressly ask Branson and Bezos if either would want to book a flight - pitch it as "the real thing" and not some brief all in a day hundred kilometer or so into space and back, but more. Not that either would accept. Just a public offer, to see if any response arises.

Frey is hoping mediocrity and conservatism mixed, will nonetheless carry the day with a host of challengers. Radinovich was Frey's campaign chief last election, and that time the team won. Radinovich separately lost to Republican Stauber in his attempt to go to Congress from the Iron Range.
There seem to be good candidates, and to say a debate taking the top three, vs taking the top four, is a choice of the hosting group is legitimate where with seventeen hats in the ring some culling was needed to have a meaningful debate.
There is time for things to heat up, and sift out, before a final vote.
With Frey debating two progressives, both female, he will be in a sense unique. However, he's had his turn and it was as messed up as it could be. George Floyd was killed on his watch. Cop union boss Bob Kroll went ape-shit publicly over Donald Trump, showing something about police rank and file attitude. And yet Frey basically is unyielding on reforms to policing - where the other two in the first debate will not be bleating "LAW AND ORDER" so at least there will be a voicing in favor of the public safety charter reform.
Frey opposes the policing oriented charter reform. That alone should make progressive voters appalled and willing to change.
It is amazing that Strib's entire item does not contain the word "charter." So in discussing Awad being left out of debating, there is no report of what he thinks of the policing reform charter proposal. Tune in later? What? It is a long item.
One truth. Frey has to go. Another, the new mayor - make that next serving mayor - will be DFL. There is little Republican urban support. The Republicans are focused out-state.
So, Frey debating two progressives should gain coverage of progressive attitudes and hopes; Frey being in opposition. How media cover that debate will be informative about what to expect up to election day.
Will Radinovich again be king-maker, or is the magic gone?

Doubtlessly some readers will have favored sites not listed. This IS only a sample.
The point is that voters be informed. There are more than one proposal. Although the policing reform one has gained most attention, other things matter.
So read enough to not be surprised when voting.
Link. Link. That level of money spent, both sides, could be put to good use. Instead it goes to campaign consultants, who are neither the best nor brightest. The entire thing is fiddling while real issues exist. Evictions. Covid again spiking. Trump and little Bush in a pissing match, that is more like the recall stupidity than like a true issue, a yawner, and for the two, same as with the consultants, neither is best nor brightest.
Think how better and simpler the world would be if there were no Republicans and only conservative Dems [Manchin/Biden] and progressive Dems [Jayapal/AOC] to be at one another time and again. Retire Mitch McConnell to a Kentucky farm, raising blue grass, kush-diesel hybrid, whatever, and watch the sun shine brighter and the birds sing sweeter.
Actually, there is no such thing as interesting mainstream diversionary stuff. While Congress is deciding what to spend, how to spend it, the supporting "other news" is -- lame.
May Texas cement a big Dem turnout. Emily's List is reforming itself; an SEIU activist replacing what, a big Hillary booster back then (when Bernie would have run the table and won the first time). Biden did win. But Bernie would have won that time too, and would have had a whopping bigger margin. Ya betcha. Bernie is neat. Joe Biden has a bit of Jill Biden to him, Dr. she says about an education degree, and Joe seems proud of his decades of conservatism. Anita Hill was credible, but not allowed to unhorse a bad knight; the fix was on and we suffer for it.

Breitbart's focus is misguided. Members of the public challenging the Capitol over rampant corruption in DC would have made sense. Invading the Capitol to prove they (as Trump loyalists) could - and could have escalated things if Trump had wanted more - directed that way the Capitol intrusion thing was doomed and the corruption runs on with sanctimonious clucking over, "How could they . . ."
We are overdue for demonstrations against corruption, politicians being bought with subsequent tax cuts for the super wealthy donor class, both parties at the trough, but media quelling public outrage - i.e., having done its task. Ultimately, the mess needs cleaning.
Yet today's corruption problem is apart from getting out of Afghanistan, which could have been done at the point Obama-Clinton claimed to have killed bin Laden, but was prolonged instead.
Finally out, little Bush talking of bad spawn WAS offensive, with his showing no intent to look into the face in his shaving mirror, reaction to his wording was due. But again, Breitbart looks wrongly at what he said beyond the inherent contradiction and refusal to see himself as genesis of the entire Afghanistan fiasco. Not seeing, not admitting, same story.
So the Bush family does not like the Trump family. And little Bush gives a speech saying so? News? Hardly. And with both families held by many to be worthless if not evil, why take sides?
Breitbart is Trump Media, no doubt, but fueling the Republican civil war over Trumpism vs. ordinary greedy ill-will among "regular" war-profiting Republicans seems to do no good toward either of the opposed families.
Not that there is good to be found or made up among the two. Just that Breitbart seems to have little cause to play favorites, though favoritism clearly is their nature, to a fault.
Trump owns Breitbart. Not in terms of invested dollars, but in terms of spirit and discord.
Kate Knuth looks like a candidate to freshen up the city's mayoral office.
Read about her. Vote for her and for the public safety amendment, if you have the chance.

Being outside looking in, my CD6 vote exists, but I envy those having a real choice; a real chance who do their GOTV duty.
Emmer, faults and all, at least is an upgrade from Crazy Eyes, spouse of Marcus Bachmann who "counseled" one of Gazelka's children, a daughter who Paul surrendered to the dark forces of Bachmann's clinic, which the young woman likened to torture.
We are better than some politicians we live with, because some favor them.
We see Knuth and younger advocates, who will seize the DFL from bondage to old ways of thought. Bravo. It is never too soon to see progress. A lot of places need it.
Mpls can reach it; if turnout unseats Frey and installs his better.
While Knuth is not alone as a progressive choice against tired old Frey, she is the candidate seen at Crabgrass as most promising of level change and implementation of progressive aims, aims at least one other candidate also holds.
(TakeActionMinnesota endorses both, but Knuth rings my bell. With rank choice voting, DON'T RANK FREY. Rank both TAM candidates, You won't go wrong.)
It is only a guess, but the impression is that Knuth might be more successful for change, if winning the vote for mayor.
