The Minnesota Republicans did well in rejecting Tim Pawlenty and going with someone sincere. The problem is Jeff Johnson is sincere in wrong ways. Tim Walz is just as decent and sincere as Johnson, but in better ways. It is time to cut a 3 x $27 check to the Walz campaign.

Tim Walz for Governor

That's for the snailmail check. The alternative:

With that said, the main page's nutshell version states the Walz-Flanagan ticket posiitons:

We are running for Governor and Lieutenant Governor to make our vision of One Minnesota a reality. We are united in this vision:

A Minnesota where every child has the opportunity to succeed and hope for the future.
A Minnesota where the people whose lives are most impacted by public policy choices have a seat at the table.
A Minnesota with fair wages, fully funded public schools, and affordable healthcare as a right, not a privilege.
A Minnesota where we protect our environment, invest in renewable energy and jobs, and maintain our roads, bridges, and transit across the state. We want to bring this vision to the governor’s office and support the Minnesota we know and love.

Why highlight the last two of the four bullet points? Because Johnson is not against children, while having a less flexible and less enlightened and informed view of what is best. Johnson also appears open to input from the public, yet as an ex-Cargill man he might have favorite public input channels which might not be best for everyone.

The Walz-Flanagan ticket commits on wage decency, public school quality first and foremost, healthcare as a right, infrastructure, renewable energy and the economic boost renewable build-out will entail, and regard for the environment - something about which Johnson falls silent.

Walz was a teacher and is a veteran, with a track record of strong veteran advocacy in his years in Congress. As a teacher, he has an insider view of education needs and goals which a career lawyer-politician such as Johnson cannot comprehend from experience. Johnson relies, instead, upon DeVos style voucher favoring GOP policy anchors, if he has any education policy anchor at all.

The Walz candidacy offers more, and deserves more. The check will be in the mail.
