The Chief giving an audio interview shows he is measured, and intelligent.
Not a Bob Kroll. A professional, and facing building trust and respect for policing and doing that understaffed. Not wanting counterforces undermining his effort.

All told, a picture seems to be emerging sufficiently in line with outrage toward the manner of operation, nationwide, that Trump's, Noem's, and Stephen Miller's people are doing things in city streets of predominantly Democratic cities.
Objective, professional concerns exist. The mayor's frustrated immediate reaction is well grounded, and the lawless goons should leave.
The chief, hired after the George Floyd murder, seems well-intentioned, intelligent, and motivated in a very good way. He speaks in a way demanding of attention and thought. And he had encouraging words about the remaining local FBI personnel and his hopes for their doing a professional investigation, given that BCA has been told to stand aside. The hope is he is correct in believing that.
A crime was committed, and the Crabgrass hope and expectation is the offender will face the full force of Minnesota law.
We'll see. Meanwhile, the Minnesota public should not be drawn into dangerous and self defeating reactions, given the provocative intent being shown at multiple federal levels.
BOTTOM LINE: Support your local Police Chief in wanting a peaceable city, one even a recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize or an aspirant for one should also want and expect. BCA being side tracked, that is a worry, but let's presume for now there is professionalism within the local FBI office, unless the future shows otherwise.
Murder should face justice, as it did in the George Floyd killing.
