How about this, from the past, and what we see now -
Back in the days when Presidential aircraft had propellers, Nixon in '52 gave his Checkers speech. Sherman Adams resigned. Back then at least appearances were kept up better, and amounts smaller. We have moved as a nation, not for the better.
The Eisenhower years, Truman years, ancient history? As well as propeller aircraft, the term "Whistlestop Campaign" has no relevance today.
Alternet. Back then, the "I Like Ike times," would anyone have foreseen Citizens United which now stands as the most famous of the Supreme Court's "money-talks" decision making? Perhaps national standards have slipped a bit.
