Sornette has written a substantial amount of econophysics literature, much on extreme events, bubbles, earthquakes, etc. The arXiv site is interesting for anyone who's unfamiliar with it, and worth exploring. I have no idea who Vince is, but his view of economic matters has some sense to it, in a Ron Paul way. Enjoy.
