Final story paragraph, "Cuellar, one of the last anti-abortion Democrats in Congress, narrowly defeated progressive challenger Jessica Cisneros by fewer than 300 votes in a primary race in 2022." That was where mainstream inner party Democrats backed incumbent Cueller. Now the SOB is indicted. The better candidate, if not opposed by inner party types, would have won.

Innocent until convicted guilty. If it was any other situation, slack incumbent favored by the party brass over a better progressive, ho-hum, things happen.

Given the past election, how sides were chosen, progressives can moan.
