After largely dissecting overlapping areas of agreement -
Demuth includes several other policies in her education plan, including expanding funding for student safety to include private schools; opting Minnesota into a federal quasi-voucher scheme; allowing districts to opt-out of state mandates; and removing “woke standards” adopted during Walz’s tenure, though she hasn’t offered specifics other than anything that is “pushing our kids away from the basics of reading, math and science.”
This "woke" business, would a compare and contrast lesson of the early culthood hate suffered by the Latter Day Saints with their Prophet Joseeph Smith shot point blank dead by a mob, with the Janet Reno burning alive of a Waco cult of her time - one by a mob the other the government - be woke if there were also teaching of the Mountain Meadows Massacre? But not "woke" otherwise? I have trouble with boundaries and evenness, Jefferson and Hemmings and a Virginia law of their time that freed Negros had to leave the Commonwealth, where those not in bondage were at the time unwanted. Hemmings was kept in bondage, stuff like that, is it what "woke" means?
Hemmings was an octoroon as was Plessy in Plessy v. Ferguson. Not to distract from memorization of multiplication tables, or doing square roots.
And when we teach of the Turing Test and WW II code breaking, is Alan's death "woke?" Or but at a time and place evidence of then current, but changing, public value systems? As in I "woke" from a sleep a changed man? And 7 x 8 = 56.
