Trump aide Hope Hicks tests positive for COVID-19 after traveling with president

Hope Hicks, a close aide to President Trump, has tested positive for the coronavirus after traveling on Air Force One to the president’s debate Tuesday and Minnesota rally on Wednesday, Bloomberg first reported.

Her infection comes after she was seen maskless in close contact with White House and Trump campaign staff Tuesday, including White House senior adviser Stephen Miller and campaign adviser Jason Miller, the outlet reported.

She was photographed deplaning from Air Force One Tuesday without a mask, in close proximity to others.

[...] Hicks is just the latest White House staffer to become infected. Several close to Trump have caught the deadly virus while the commander-in-chief has remained uninfected. [... as of Oct. 1 disclosures]

“The President takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously,” deputy press secretary Judd Deere said in a statement to The Hill, without mentioning Hicks.

“White House Operations collaborates with the Physician to the President and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidance and best practices for limiting COVID-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible both on complex and when the President is traveling,” he went on.

A planeload of scofflaws, taking things seriously? Not wearing masks? Somebody is stretching truth in releasing those last two paragraphs of fluff.
