Republicans have demanded commitments on spending cuts from Democrats in exchange for raising the debt limit but have said entitlement programs are not on the chopping block.
President Biden and Democrats have still sought to frame the GOP desire for spending slashes as a move to attack Medicare and Social Security. On the current trajectories, funding for Medicare is expected to hit a shortfall in 2028 with Social Security following in 2032.
Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid currently make up nearly half of the entire federal budget, with a total annual price tag of $2.7 trillion.
That "debt ceiling" game is as phony as South Carolina politicians, Haley, Scott and Graham. And Clyburn, list him with the others since honesty is necessary.
First, squeeze the obscene profiteering out of healthcare, Big Pharma, the private equity firms renting hospitals to bean counters - always bean counters on the hospital first floor where if you get past them you can see the good people, doctors and nurses on the upper floors who cope with bean counter squeezing and REIT rental maggots, but the actual care providers who deserve what they get because they work hard and have studied long, some facing incredible tuition debt.
Second, close every single red state military base. Then tax the wealthy to pay for the healthcare of the workers they exploit. Shrink the Pentagon budget as may be further needed.
That gets it done.

If we had that level of street activity by our young, over attacks upon Social Security such as Ms. Haley's, perhaps Ms. Haley would change her braying.

Anyone who thinks that simplistic stuff will destroy solidarity among all regular people need to see something very tangible shoved into their faces, where, eyes open, they lay off oppression of the young, and lay off any reliance upon divide and conquer expectations among those who should know solidarity is the only thing that might work.
