Each bloom grows on the end of the stalk for a few days until about to open, opens in the morning, and dies back that evening and overnight, with new blooms opening each following day. There's a roughly 15ft x 12ft patch of these day lilies in the back yard. They get shaded sun most of the day, and direct sun for 4 to 5 hrs. They survives each winter and thrives each summer, through drought or rainy months. Blooming begins around the summer solstice. The flower stalks start to grow out at or soon before the start of June. Mostly the patch is an orange variety that have been there for years, with other variants more newly added. They're not given daily loving care, no gardeners that intense are in the household, so a few of the blooms are spotted or streaked. The orange variety is out about 7-10 days before the others open.
