MinnPost has a good analysis online of the SNAFU in MN CD3 precipitated by the DEAN for President SNAFU initiator.

Link. CD3 does not need DEAN, and can move on. Dean is, however, a safety net in case Biden croaks between now and election day, or has some Hunter stuff spill over.

Yes, Biden is older than Dean, and yes Biden's current poll numbers are down.

So what?

Against Trump Biden was lesser evil once, and stands out as a lesser evil still.

UPDATE: A guess is if Dean decides to run in MN CD3 that as incumbent he will have DFL party support, and the two primary candidates might step aside. If not, he likely would win a three person primary, perhaps not a two person one. If Dean ends up the endorsed DFL candidate, and primary winner, there is a good chance he is reelected again; and he's not been a bad Rep., just not a populist-progressive as some prefer; Crabgrass included.

FURTHER: Dean is correct that the Democratic Party needs to open more power to younger party members, himself included, as well as his equal aged and younger current CD3 primary contestants. However, the cryingly obvious need is to capture younger voters, 18 and up, to solidify progressive beliefs the young tend to disproportionately hold, to keep ossification under control, and to win elections.

Then, the progressive younger wing of the party has its own right to expect sharing of the power by Dean's middle-aged age group. It cannot honestly be Dean saying open up to me, my contemporaries more, but ignore the young yolked to stifling student debt, where the system was engineered in response to the 60's to put the young under such a burden to render them more pliant to being managed.

The young are the future. After them, today's children, who now should be being schooled to understand sharing power, when their turn arises.

Those who'd for political short term cause would seek to set young against old, with zero sum game thinking, to divide and conquer, are true enemies of America. That is a truth, and only the divide and conquer practitioners will deny it.

A truth: Those saying Make America Great Again are pathologically opposed to ever being boxed into saying when it was great and why. They sell myth, not reality, and a novel but incredibly sound idea is Make America Great, leave out the Again as superfluous, and then own up to putting a meaning upon "Great" so that sensible discourse can follow. You will never see that from the "Great Again crowd" since they are lying through their teeth to hide about how to them racism and barefoot and pregnant is their treasured notion of "Great" with that being what they desire for the majority of us to somehow be channeled into accepting the propaganda. Be honest, and don't bastardize the young into ugly and dangerous falsehoods.

To be Great Again.
