Thinking of the story about Cleansing of the Temple.

Wikipedia. Sometimes the mind is triggered in remote ways as events of the day happen. At the end of the wiki entry, a fine number of artists were prone toward depicting the Cleansing. It was not incitement, but directly led action. Taking a step and not telling others to step. However things shake out, a necessary step is only seen widely as such after its full history has played out. Try this:

“The more I read, the more I was led to abhor and detest my enslavers. I could regard them in no other light than a band of successful robbers, who had left their homes, and gone to Africa, and stolen us from our homes, and in a strange land reduced us to slavery. I loathed them as being the meanest as well as the most wicked of men. As I read and contemplated the subject, behold! that very discontentment which Master Hugh had predicted would follow my learning to read had already come, to torment and sting my soul to unutterable anguish. As I writhed under it, I would at times feel that learning to read had been a curse rather than a blessing. It had given me a view of my wretched condition, without the remedy. it opened my eyes to the horrible pit, but to no ladder upon which to get out. in moments of agony, I envied my fellow-slaves for their stupidity. I have often wished myself a beast. I preferred the condition of the meanest reptile to my own. Any thing, no matter what, to get rid of thinking! It was this everlasting thinking of my condition that tormented me. There was no getting rid of it. It was pressed upon me by every object within sight or hearing, animate or inanimate. The silver trump of freedom had roused my soul to eternal wakefulness. Freedom now appeared, to disappear no more forever. It was heard in every sound and seen in every thing. It was ever present to torment me with a sense of my wretched condition. I saw nothing without seeing it, I heard nothing without hearing it, and felt nothing without feeling it. It looked from every star, it smiled in every calm, breathed in every wind, and moved in every storm.”
Frederick Douglass, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

And that is why we have propagandists to repeat a falsehood sufficiently to make it viewed as truth. Why call it "a falsehood?" Is transcendant "truth" against strong moods of the day?

“The American people have this to learn: that where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob, and degrade them, neither person nor property is safe.”
Frederick Douglass

and

“Let me give you a word of the philosophy of reform. The whole history of the progress of human liberty shows that all concessions yet made to her august claims, have been born of earnest struggle. The conflict has been exciting, agitating, all-absorbing, and for the time being, putting all other tumults to silence. It must do this or it does nothing. If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters."

"This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. In the light of these ideas, Negroes will be hunted at the North, and held and flogged at the South so long as they submit to those devilish outrages, and make no resistance, either moral or physical. Men may not get all they pay for in this world; but they must certainly pay for all they get. If we ever get free from the oppressions and wrongs heaped upon us, we must pay for their removal. We must do this by labor, by suffering, by sacrifice, and if needs be, by our lives and the lives of others.”
Frederick Douglass

There was some plowing the ground, some thunder and lightning. What happens from it? A Great Reset can be different things in different minds, and as the old film newsreels said, "Time marches on." Some need to be whacked across the head with a 2 x 4 to get their attention toward a better world. In both houses of Congress, no less. A wake-up call that does not wake-up is a misfortune.

_______UPDATE_______

UGLY SHABBY POLITICS: DeVos resigns. She never should have been voted into that office and the hope is the doorknob gets her hypocritical ass on the way out. She bought the office she held, with no competence shown before or after her passing the Senate vote along party lines. She however is something beyond a mere rat abandoning a sinking Presidency. She is a skunk. Doing it.

Schumer calls on Pence to apply the 25th Amendment. That will never happen. Schumer's transparent act would sever the Jesus jockey part of the base from the deplorables - the angry white folks - and split the GOP base, were Pence to fall for it. He will not. Pelosi playing the same ugly political game, making hay while the sun shines; while Pence refused to be suckered by the slimy effort of the pair:

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tried to reach out to Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday to urge him to consider invoking the 25th Amendment to force President Trump's removal from office.

The Democrats issued a statement detailing their phone call attempt to Pence, whom they were unable to connect with.

Read their statement:

“This morning, we placed a call to Vice President Pence to urge him to invoke the 25th Amendment which would allow the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to remove the President for his incitement of insurrection and the danger he still poses. We have not yet heard back from the vice president.
The President’s dangerous and seditious acts necessitate his immediate removal from office. We look forward to hearing from the vice president as soon as possible and to receiving a positive answer as to whether he and the Cabinet will honor their oath to the Constitution and the American people.”

Skapegoating is afoot. The head of the Capitol Police and the Senate Sergeant at Arms have been forced out. Neither had the minions prepared to be armed to the teeth and brutal enough, in military gear looking like Empire agents in Star Wars, (except for the detail that the gear in the movie was all white).

This total bullshit -

Sen. John Danforth Says He Was "Bamboozled" By Sen. Josh Hawley

– 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 2020

A longtime U.S. senator who has been a staunch supporter of Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri says he was “bamboozled” and no longer backs him.
Three-term Republican Sen. John Danforth of St. Louis told The Associated Press in an interview Thursday that he first met Hawley when Hawley was a third-year student at Yale Law School and was immediately impressed by his intelligence. Now, he calls his support of Hawley “the worst decision I’ve ever made in my life.”

Clarence Thomas was the worse decision that miserable bastard rat inflicted upon the nation and upon Civil Rights icon Thrugood Marshall's stellar legacy (e.g., Marshall litigated Brown v. Board of Education); and that hypocrite Danforth has never admitted it was even bad judgment. Now he wants ass cover, so he skapegoats a white acolyte. Sad.

Progressives need to avoid this rolling snowball set of tacky action, and stay focused upon holding Biden-Harris feet to the fire on Medicare for All - the main major thing which a clear and decisive majority of the people of the nation want; especially after the Covid pandemic led to job loss and the consequent realization by some otherwise complacent individuals that healthcare coverage linked to continued employment is a bad idea for labor and a bonanza tool of oppression handed by government to hateful autocratic bosses and their loving plutocratic shareholders.

Trump? Who really cares? He may have eyes on 2024, and hounding him after he leaves office may be aimed to quell that. However, his own party will do whatever is needed to fend him into obscure retirement. Like Michele Bachmann. Like rush week closet brothers and sisters who the fraternity/sorority wish to have hidden so as to not scare away promising pledges.

More who cares: Ivanka will continue to be an airhead and Jarad a lightweight. The two older sons will have to deal with family debt coming due and what of it is backed by security interests that are non-dischargeable in bankruptcy. The secured creditors and bonepickers will give them more Hell to have to handle than any prosecutors will.

 Enough.

___________FURTHER UPDATE___________

Well, not enough. Trump and the DEEP STATE have together killed the Tea Party part of the Republican Party's base. The DEEP STATE paid out rope, and they hung themselves. When NYT writes this kind of obit, it's over. The fat lady's sung.

Biden now has and will use this mandate to entrench the DEEP STATE, at the expense of US.

Progressives will be next. Fascism won. Biden will be the quintessential fascist he has been all his life, and Harris is a climber who will embrace whatever advances her. Obama redux will be the death of progressive hope. It will be ugly.

Bloomberg won. Hollywood won. The people lost.

This Capitol event has all the reminders of the World Trade Center event.

The people were handed Trump or Biden. Two party fascism's version of FUCK YOU to the public, to voters, to the people of the US of A. To us.

Now we understand that phone call between Trump and Bubba before Trump announded that 2016 was his time to run, to bullshit the Tea Party into supporting him so that he could kill it.

The GREAT RESET will not be good. It will make the Great Depression look mild.

The Biden cabinet is packed full of DEEP STATE careerists. Yes, none individually as bad as DeVos, but citizens are being set up for a great fleecing. When Lincoln Project and Bloomberg merged with the New Dems and Trump discredited the Tea Party popular will, progressives are left with no where to turn. The game is rigged.

And Macron tells you there's no escape route. Watch the trade deals as they happen.

Money will rule in a nasty unfettered way, people asking each other, "Who made this happen?" Pelosi, Schumer, Romney, corporatists, "National Security" being the mode of keeping the people in the dark while the intelligence-industrial complex will be owned and run by existing malefactors of great wealth.

Great Reset and Build Back Better being buzzwords for wealth consolidating power to the detriment of the people worldwide. The Capitol event surely brings the Twin Towers to mind (with WTC 7 also somehow falling into its footprint too conveniently to believe). George W. Bush can paint a water color of whatever, while the Obamas can enjoy their Island waterfrint luxury, all that while fascism consolidates itself, DEEP STATE, Great Reset, and Build Back Better, worldwide. All the propaganda in the world and everyone with a smart phone to look at instead of looking at what's being engineered. Gettings things to where everyone wiil be having a place, everyone held to it.

The next pandemic will be interesting, the culling that will occur. The meek wondering what got done to their inheritance which the guy at the mount promised them as theirs according to how the book was writ. Current homelessness is just the start of something larger. Something uglier. Link. Another link. Two more, here and here.
