Using Hennepin County absentee ballots cast so far, this primary election turnout could dwarf the presidential election turnout of 2016.

Or not. The WCCO online report states almost a doubling in absentee ballots.

Unanswered, is the comparison for 2016 contested primaries vs. those contested now; or is the near-doubling in comparison to the 2016 general election. Last cycle, 2016, the primary season was docile, compared to this year's soon-to-be primary.

The turnout may be high, certainly for a primary, and we shall see if this is so quite soon; once the primary votes are counted.

With each party having a contest for Governor, crossover primary voting is unlikely.
