Saturday's DFL news: Party endorses primary winners of statewide office contests who won primaries ahead of prior endorsed individuals. That would be Walz/Flanagan and Ellison.

Strib reports:

Ellison, who handily won Tuesday’s primary election, won over 82 percent of the delegates voting at the DFL state executive committee meeting. The party also agreed to back U.S. Rep. Tim Walz for governor following his primary victory against previously endorsed state Rep. Erin Murphy.

“I want to tell you, face to face, that I never abused Karen,” Ellison said Saturday. “Despite everything, I still care about her as a person and I don’t want anybody to say anything insulting to her at all.”

Earlier Saturday, about a dozen protesters gathered outside Cambridge-Isanti High School before the meeting, shouting “Ellison beats women.”

Well, were I the paid reporter covering the event I would have gone to the protestesters to ask their affiliation. GOP or NOW? It may have been asked, with the reporter being uncertain of what to believe about responses - as with the Ellison-Monahan situation, in a sense. As to feelings here, Ellison "beat" Hilstrom in the primary voting, and aside from that what Ellison said about Wardlow is what resonates:

The 326-70 vote for endorsement allows Ellison to marshal DFL resources like sample ballots or fundraising during his campaign. Responding to questions from another delegate, O’Brien said the party could pull its endorsement should additional evidence surface against Ellison.

Speaking to delegates before the vote, Ellison also sought to cast his Republican opponent, Doug Wardlow, as a candidate bent on stripping women’s reproductive rights and as an enemy of collective bargaining.

No uncertainty about that score. Whether Wardlow, in desperation or by long standing personality and record, will be taking the high road or the low road in campaigning is something I look forward to seeing. As likely as not an "unaffiliated" dark money PAC does the dirty work for him, either way.

Credit must be given. To characterize Wardlow's record in a soundbite/nutshell, it was done well. Truthfulness of the soundbite being what VoteSmart evidences about Wardlow. That and grandstanding about the soldier/cross nonesense where preeminence of separation of church and state was hammered home by the Satanists demanding equal rights. Of all things . . .

Does this grab you, about Wardlow, (per VoteSmart):

Professional Experience

Legal Counsel, Alliance Defending Freedom, 2014-present
Former Litigation Attorney, Faegre and Benson
Former Legal Intern, Lee and Li Attorneys-at-Law, Taipei, Taiwan
Former Volunteer, Office of United States Congressman Gil Gutknecht
Former Volunteer, Office of United States Congressman John Kline

Law Clerk, Minnesota Supreme Court, 2004-2005

[bolding and italics added] Walz knows Gutknect, and we all know Col. Kline and his affiliation with for-profit schools of dubious reputation. If Wardlow wants to cast his lot with those two; he paints himself into a corner I would never want to be in. Opinions can differ.

But what is this:

Alliance Defending Freedom

That's the grandstanding platform that defines Wardlow beyond regular plain vanilla Minnesota Republican women's rights dissenter and union opponent. It is his badge. Protracted idiocy leading to something Wardlow really had not wanted as an outcome. Ellison, by comparison, gets real things done. Wardlow got what he deserved, national attention, as per Bloomberg reporting.

BOTTOM LINE: Wardlow is a lightweight who gets totally lost in Ellison's shadow. And his little gimmick, "Alliance Defending Freedom," got it handed to them, when others actually defended freedom. Lesson learned? Doubt it. Wardlow remains an opponent of freedom and candor between a woman and her doctor. To some, that is a badge of superstition and ignorance.

This is evidence of little difference from Roy Moore and his stone; i.e., an affront to the liberty of others as well as dilatory fiddling while others say America needs to be made great again. There is no greatness to religious bigotry in any size, shape or manner. Moreover, the LGBTQ community should be aware that the earlier single sentence summary of his opponent given by Ellison could have added "homophobic" to the other two characteristics.

Bigotry needs to be voted down, decisively. Every time. Wear it as a badge, get defeated, is an enduring hope. Another link.

________________UPDATE________________
By affiliation, Wardlow is part of the cult that inflicted the Citizens United case against the nation's right to have elections free of being bought by massive, often dark, amounts of money. Corporations are not the same as humans and Roberts is an ass for deciding so, with four henchmen.

Are you happy with that decision? That affiliation? That direction? That organization? Happy with the sheer meanness of your vote defiled by money having a bigger and more decisive vote than you? If so, you should not be. It is a blot against the national conscience.

Do you suppose that there's a reason, a feeling of shame, a will to deceive, a like motive to

not honestly featuring: "I band with those in favor of the Citizens United and Hobby Lobby cases, in belief that for-profit corporations have religious rights against their employees, and dark money rocks! It is who I am, who I work for, whose aims I wish to advance; and my goal for conduct of the office of top lawyer of the State of Minnesota, representing all its diverse people, will be consistent with such an agenda."

I think the man wants to hide something. I think some outing is needed.

I expect Ellison to campaign well.

I sincerely hope that Maye Quade and Pelikan, as gay advocates, will campaign to inspire their community to GOTV in droves. Eyes on the prize. Against bigotry. Wardlow is expected in turn to have his minions marching. Weight and counterweight. November beckons.

Did Christ die for dark money? Just asking. I've my own answer.
