hypocrites

Guardian, here, second and third paragraphs:

The automakers Hyundai, BMW and Mitsubishi, the financial firm T Rowe Price, the personal finance site Credit Karma, the insurer Allstate, the drugmakers Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline, the pet food company Ainsworth, the men’s shirt seller Untuckit, and the online marketing firm Constant Contact said Tuesday that they had joined Mercedes-Benz in pulling their ads from the show.

The moves come after a weekend report in the New York Times that O’Reilly and his employer paid five women $13m to settle harassment or other allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fox’s star.

[link in original] If "conscience driven" those firms should never have sponsored O'Reilly. Because he is an asshole.

This is a serious thing to surface, not to belittle it, but it is only one singular aspect of the man being an asshole.

Why now? Why not then? Years ago. Before the asshole was ever taken seriously.

Indeed, it is grotesque greed and indifference to corporate image to have ever been a FOX sponsor. Chasing ratings is no excuse for unsound judgment. Advertisers on FOX should be subject to a collective boycott. If that were to happen it would fix things fast. Wallet hurt would foster reform.
