Cymbet leader finalist for Tekne

This year an Elk River executive was a finalist for the 2009 Tekne Awards.
Bill Priesmeyer, the chief executive officer for the Cymbet Corp., was one of three finalists in the category of Technology Executive of the Year — small and growing.
Days after an interview with the Star News, it was learned the award went to Phil Isaacson, the chief technology officer and owner of Plymouth-based Nonin Medical Inc.
However, being a finalist is still very prestigious.
For Priesmeyer, he was never completely sure why he was nominated as an individual, but mentioned this was not Cymbet’s first time being recognized in the Tekne Awards.
In 2008 the company won for advanced manufacturing — small and growing.
“We were really excited about winning the award,” Priesmeyer said.
For this year, his guess is that the nomination was an extension of the recognition the company has been getting with its innovations related to building the better battery.
Specifically, the company created a solid state battery, which is greener and more environmentally friendly than regular batteries. [...]
