STRIB - Primary Election Info - Including candidate blurbs for Ramsey council candidates.

You start on the page that asks zipcode, then residence address, and that gives your precinct, and the voting choices. Toggling a candidate's name gets the blurb page, with a photo and brief info.

The link for the starting page is: here.

Here is a sampling from candidates for Mayor [Bruce Bachler apparently declined to submit any info before STRIB's deadline].

Terri Cleveland says: The issues that motivated me to run for mayor are the need for good leadership, need for diligence with spending of public monies, and the Ramsey Town Center project delay. I will provide leadership with knowledge and experience in city government. The city will benefit from this background not only in the day-to-day operations of government, but in guiding council and staff in assuring accountability to our citizens.

Bob Ramsey says: Our municipal center now needs to be paid for without the promised tax base from our town center. The cost is $1,250,000 a year to service this debt. This problem will be with us for many years. We need to tighten the credit on city government. A moratorium on new public building investments will help to allow us to meet our committed obligations while fully funding our essential functions and services. Simply put, we need responsible and accountable city management. Elect a Mayor that understands the value of a dollar.

Keith Kiefer says: Most important issue is RAMSEYs growing pains which include Transportation, Town Center, Taxes, Preserving RAMSEYs rural character while providing the Urban services wanted. I'm uniquely qualified to be Mayor. I have consulted and provided services to the Transportation sector, worked with and in the manufacture and design sectors, and worked in the retail sector. Im often able to think outside of the box and provide creative solutions to problems and issues. RAMSEY has many opportunities ahead and needs Statesmen, not Politicians, to lead.

None of the excerpts gives any candidate's full statement, but I believe I have given a fair enough sampling of what was published. Check it. If you have any thoughts about things, or believe my above sampling is unrepresentative, post a comment. I could have posted photos with the blurbs, but if you want photos, they are online on STRIB.

Please go through the STRIB access steps and read more, about the several elections, including a contested DFL situation for US Senate and a contested GOP situation for Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District.

I do not know if PiPress has a similar thing.

If so, and any reader has knowledge, please post a link in a comment.

Voting can be a public service, a chance to get even, and more. Please vote.
