Although the former secretary of state's closest confidants have left the agency, they could still face punishment. The most serious is the loss of security clearances, which could complicate her aides' hopes of securing top positions on her national security team if she becomes president. The State Department started its review in January after declaring 22 emails from Clinton's private server to be "top secret." It was suspended in April so as not to interfere with the FBI's inquiry. State Department spokesman John Kirby said the probe is restarting after the Justice Department's announcement Wednesday that it won't bring any criminal charges. "We will aim to be as expeditious as possible, but we will not put artificial deadlines on the process," Kirby said. "Our goal will be to be as transparent as possible about our results, while complying with our various legal obligations."

Witch hunting? The headlining above is from the AP, "AP News Break: State Department reopens Clinton emails probe - By BRADLEY KLAPPER - Jul. 7, 2016 7:30 PM EDT;" this link. It unfortunately looks as if "playing the security clearances game" has gone front burner.

Stuff gets classified for multiple reasons, ranging from truly impinging upon national security and security of lives in the field, to wanting to cover up questionable conduct by taking it out of potential discussion in the public arena.

It appears it was classified that NSA was spying all the time on all of us and that is why Snowden cannot return to the nation he best served by his disclosures which the press at that time choose not to bury.

That is a cardinal example of classification to hide grotesque un-American conduct by officials having our trust; or if not that, in positions where they should be and act trustworthy.

But pull clearances of some of the Clinton - State Department close confederates; and what's it get you? A few people of debatable merit and capability are housed out; leaving many more with comparable characteristics to fill out a team. Pond scum rises to the top.
