More election news, Strib and PiPress reporting.

Strib, here.

PiPress, here.

Tony Bennett is out as a Ramsey County commissioner. Bennet was a big Vikings-Arden Hills booster, for those who might not have remembered. Linda Higgins was the frontrunner in voting for the Hennepin County Board. Anoka County primary results can be found in the statewide daily reports, but not City of Ramsey. Paul Levy's Strib item gives candidate quotes, PiPress does not.

See earlier Crabgrass posts for election result info, especially City of Ramsey - look for the Secretary of State screen captures, with the earliest of them covering Ramsey. (Our city clerk was efficient in getting all the precinct results tallied and reported, hence, complete Ramsey results were the most promptly posted.) With the statewide daily reporting noted, that wraps up election news from the primary. Now we see what happens between now and the November general election which might influence or alter our voting.

UPDATE: PiPress noted a near-record low turnout; here. (Fixed a typo and an error. I knew Bennett was in Ramsey County, I typed Hennepin because I was thinking ahead about Higgins. That's fixed now.) KARE11 reports Bennett blames his placing third in the primary and out of the general election on low turnout, while admitting his ardent stadium effort may have been a factor. He put his name in the forefront on the Arden Hills effort, which made him a lightning rod for opposition, and in the end that effort failed to gain traction, with Zygi staying downtown wealthier and happier.
