Great news - John Marty has attained his new Senate District endorsement (SD 66, where two quality DFL incumbents were redistricted together).

MPR "Capitol View" reports -

--In Senate District 54, [UPDATE: that's the old Marty district with the contest now in new SD 66] DFL Sens. John Marty of Roseville and Mary Jo McGuire of Falcon Heights were pitted against each other. Marty won on the first ballot and McGuire said she'll retire.

For anyone unfamiliar with Marty, he is the strongest and most dedicated single payer advocate in the Minnesota Senate, and he is equally an activist about deceptively-worded Republican-ALEC "RTW - Rob the Workers" balderdash:

Related video and reporting, Roseville Patch, here. Losing McGuire in the Senate is unfortunate. She was not merely DFL, but in the ranks of the best of the DFL in the legislature. Redistricting can take its toll that way, as well as putting Republicans together elsewhere so that culling can happen.

Until now I was unaware, but Minnesota Progressive Project was live-blogging a time line at the District 66 convention where Marty won the endorsement, this link (MPP has other candidate coverage - although I am unaware of who the DFL in SD 35 may have endorsed to run for Senate or House seats - or whether that DFL convention is yet to be held - any reader help in a comment is welcome).
