Papers begin endorsing Obama.

Strib online carries the story here, this headline, "LA Times, Chicago Tribune, NYC Spanish paper, Washington Post, SF Chronicle endorse Obama." Strib has the Oct. 17 AP feed online.

I closed the post just below this one:

Which candidate offers what's best for you is a voter decision, along with which seems the most cautious and sagacious, and less likely to lead the nation into troubles as the present GOP presidential team has done.

It appears the papers are starting early on this one.

If any reader notes further papers falling in line or endorsing McCain-Palin, please post a comment. Washington Post is quoted in part:

... It is without ambivalence that we endorse Sen. Barack Obama for president.

The choice is made easy in part by Mr. McCain's disappointing campaign, above all his irresponsible selection of a running mate who is not ready to be president. It is made easy in larger part, though, because of our admiration for Mr. Obama and the impressive qualities he has shown during this long race...

Mr. Obama is a man of supple intelligence, with a nuanced grasp of complex issues and evident skill at conciliation and consensus-building...

I am unaware of the full text, but the AP choosing the Palin reference indicates the tactical choice of the Alaska governor failed to impress them. However, Lieberman or Pawlenty would not have been very impressive choices either. Better for certain, but not impressive.
